ʻŌpio ʻAwa: Growing with the Roots

ʻŌpio ʻAwa is a keiki-centered educational program designed to introduce Hawaiʻi’s youth to the cultural, ecological, and spiritual importance of ʻawa. Through hands-on activities, moʻolelo, and guided observation, keiki learn about ʻawa’s life cycle, its role in Hawaiian history, and the kuleana of caring for this sacred plant. ʻŌpio ʻAwa aims to inspire a new generation to nurture their relationship with ʻāina, strengthen their cultural identity, and carry forward the traditions of ethical ʻawa stewardship.
